Hi there! A new review from Modest House today - Tegan Sideshow sent me her latest prefab release, the Walcott House. A nice cozy house, sort of farmhouse in feeling – I like the size of the house, and the neutral color scheme is great. It’s got a little bit of a shabby feel to it, too, which I always enjoy.
It’s a simple layout – there’s a little enclosed porch as you walk in, which is cute. That brings you into the main living area – the room is big enough that you could definitely break it into different zones if you wanted – like a living area, an office, maybe even a little kitchen if you’re clever with the space.
The space under the stairs would be great for a little office or reading nook. There’s an adjoining room that’s really kind of like a sun porch – I think it’s cute that Tegan included a window between the main room and the side room. The screen doors she used here and on the front are cute, too. I decided to turn this room into a dining room – it’s a narrow room, but I can see lots of options in here — could be a sitting room, a bedroom, a workroom – would make a cute little library, too.
I also really like the slatted accents on the walls, as well as on the windows. I included the close up of the window, above, so you could see the texture – it’s got a little bit of a grungy look to it. I like it – just a small detail that keeps the house “grounded”…or something…if that makes sense.
Upstairs is a cute little bedroom – I like the slanted walls and I LOVE the skylights. That’s just cute!
