Hi! Read this!

Standard

Hello! πŸ™‚ Two quick items this morning:

If you missed them, you can see my highlights from the Home Expo here, here, and here. It was an amazing week – I made some new connections, gained some new customers, and really just got to immerse myself in home/garden stuff. Heaven! The greatest thing, of course, is that the Expo was one giant fundraiser for Relay For Life — and I am very happy to share with you that overall, the Expo raised $535,313L for RFL. Wow!!! Thanks so much to all who visited the Expo and contributed!!

DSN logo

If you haven’t already checked out the DSN *and* enrolled…well, then, get to it. πŸ™‚ As described on the website, the “Designer Showcase Network is a service connecting content creators of Second Life with prospective customers. Residents of SL can subscribe to the DSN free of charge via any of the various kiosks, and chose among 9 channels. The Network then delivers promotional samples from the participating designers to them – no more than one per day and channel, randomly selected.” To break that down to its simplest: you get free stuff delivered to you every morning. Hell yeah. No hunting, no traveling around the grid — just log in, and ta da! There is a list of participating designers on the website, as well as locations of the in-world kiosks – sign up now!!

I’ll be back later today with a Designer Review. Talk to you soon!

*Home Expo 2009* The rest of my finds!

Standard

The Expo wraps up tomorrow, so be sure you get there soon!! Four sims of goodness to explore, live DJs and performers throughout the day, and tons of awesome auction and raffle prizes! Remember, too, that this is all for Relay For Life – all purchases of items displayed in RFL vendors go 100% to Relay, as well as the proceeds from the auctions and raffles. There is no better reason to spend your Lindens! πŸ™‚

I finally finished my exploring last night…so much to see! I also ran into Krissy Muggleston, which was a nice surprise. πŸ™‚ Be sure to check out her blog KrissyLately – it’s in my blogroll! And now…on to the finds!

A Take On Simplicity by Felicity Sneerwell: I met Felicity through our mutual friend, Stormy McCallister (Another Man’s Treasure), but this was my first opportunity to check out her work. Nice, simple designs, fairly low on prims and still full on style. I like her Karma Outdoor Set – again, really simple, but a great staple for any modern patio…and something about the cushion texture speaks to me. It’s got a sort of buttery leather look to it – I like it.

Felicity also has the Karma Bathroom Suite – I really like the mix of stone and wood, and the way she’s connected the tubΒ  and shower with the shared stone mount is really clever.

bath shower sink

Ambiance Furniture by Desiree Bisiani: the Aphrodite Bathroom is very romantic, without being too froofy (it’s a word). There are several more pieces to the set, I just really like the tub vignette. The towel rack is gorgeous, and I love the curves on the candle holders. Very nice!

romantic bath

Elements in Design by Gwen Carillon – another new designer to me. Gwen has several furniture sets on display, as well – it’s her Gossip Girl Cafe that caught my eye. Now, I don’t watch the show, so I can’t comment on authenticity — but it sure is cute. πŸ™‚ Very warm and cozy interior, and it’s a just-right size. This would be adorable nestled in a city block or in a quiet village neighborhood.

The Loft by Colleen Desmoulin & -RC- Cluster by Redd Columbia – favorites of mine, of course. πŸ™‚ For the Expo, Colleen has the Speyside Hutch available in green, a color exclusive to the Expo, and all proceeds for RFL. Redd has included her Craft Bag as a RFL item – and it’s precious! I had to pick one up for me. It’s full of pens, pencils, markers, notebooks, scissors…everything I need to spontaneously wreak havoc. πŸ™‚

Scarlet Creative by Charlotte Bartlett: Charlotte has one of her amazing houses on display, and it’s also her RFL item. What I fell in love with is her Make Me A Star object — rez it (it’s invisible), and tada – glowy stars circle all around. I grabbed one to add to the fairy garden. I also really love her packaging – clear glass boxes? Yes, please!

[ba] by Barnesworth Anubis: and finally, another of my all-time favorites. πŸ™‚ Barnes has a few of his houses on display, all yummy and a required walk-thru. For his RFL item, he’s got the Square Modern Gazebo – great piece for the beach, a zen garden, even a quiet forest hideaway. Possibilities are endless!

Ta da! That concludes my Home Expo 2009 finds. Be sure to get over there today or tomorrow — I’ve only shown you a small percentage of what’s there, you’ve got to get out and see the rest! Enjoy!

*Home Expo 2009* More finds!

Okay, I made it through 1 more sim…there’s so much to see! Just a few quick things I want to share with you — and, of course, be sure to get out to the Expo yourself! Four sims of houses, furniture, decor, landscaping…it’s really an all-encompassing collection. Modern, vintage, gothic, fantasy..I’m pretty sure, whatever your tastes, there’s something for you at the Expo.

Remember, there are raffles and auctions – items are located at the main stage area, right in the center where all 4 sims meet. There are also live DJs and live performers throughout the day – it’s a fun party, and all to benefit Relay For Life!

And now — here’s what I’ve got πŸ™‚

Woodshed Furniture by RH Engel and Rebel Hope — Woodshed is not new to me, but it has been quite a while since I’ve checked out their stuff. They’ve got a very nice exhibit set up – all dark and gothic and romantic. I like the Darkness Falls bed, especially the sloped canopy, and I really like the texture/detail on the Darkness Falls candelabra. The bed is only 23 prims, btw — pretty good for such an ornate piece! RH and Rebel also have some nice desk accessories — you know me, it’s all about the little things!

woodshed-all

Prim Pincher by Nimue Jewell – I tend toΒ  be fairly prim-conscious, but not enough for my furniture to be considered “low-prim”. Generally, and unfortunately, I’ve found low-prim furniture to be fairly “flat” — not much in the way of shading, shadow, depth, etc. The Rustic Luxury furniture set and Silk Ottoman by Prim Pincher break that mold – I like the textures here, and the ottomans have a nice “poof” look to them.

C&D Designs by Cherelle Capra – I really like this French Garden Chaise. It’s very simple, and it has a subtle vintage glam look to it. It comes with some really cute poses, and I can totally see this inside or outside. Great by the pool, or in a posh dressing room with a chandelier and lush flokati rug. πŸ™‚ I really like the little tree, too — very cute.

One more sim to explore, and I’ll get the rest of my finds posted soon!

*Home Expo 2009* My finds so far!

Standard

Day 1 of the Expo was great! Good traffic, I saw lots of green dots on the map, hanging out at the main stage, and I had lots of visitors to my exhibit. Yay! I did find time to explore 2 of the 4 sims, and I’m going to share some of the cool stuff I found. πŸ™‚

FIRST – let me say this: go the the Expo. πŸ™‚ Here’s the SLurl to my exhibit — start there and then make your way around. Be sure to spend some time at the main stage area — there are raffle items as well as silent auction items! I have not yet checked out all the silent auction items – I’ll do that soon – but I can tell you that I donated my animation services as part of the auction. πŸ™‚ Five custom furniture animations (single pose), of the winner’s choosing. Woot!

Ok, now for the good stuff!

MarcoPolo Furniture by marcopol Oh – a new designer to me – some nice modern furniture, with a bit of a funky pop-art vibe. Two pieces I like are the Table with Wheels and the Square Diamond Dresser:

marco-allHouses for You by Kira Spaatz – another new designer for me. There are a few prefabs set up for display…it’s the Arabian tent that caught my eye. Great texturing – it feels very rich!

arabian-tent-allBelle Belle by Leyla Firefly – of course, one of my favorites. πŸ™‚ Leyla is showing the Mystique Dreamhouse, and this is also her RFL item, so all proceeds from this purchase will go to Relay For Life! I think this may be Belle Belle’s first house, and it’s a great one. I didn’t take pics of the inside, because I want you to go see for yourself :). It’s a nice size without being too big, and has lots of nice artchitectural details.

Another Man’s Treasure by Stormy McCallister – Stormy has been very busy! I ran into her Sunday night while she was setting up…and I was snooping ;)…and we played with the poses in her new living set. It’s full of really sweet, cute couples poses, so be sure to take a pal with you to try them out. πŸ™‚ I really love the colors she’s used in the Arata Spring Collection…and, as always, her fireplace is the awesome!

amt_all2Greene Concept by Peter Stindberg & Ivanova Shostakovich – Greene Concept’s exhibit is catty-corner to mine, which is nice since Peter is my pal. πŸ™‚ Their display looks great — very eye-catching and modern. They’ve got all their staples displayed, with their multitude of gorgeous texture options, and also a few new pieces that I love! The Twisty Bench is awesome – it’s like the modern “twist” on the Victorian conversation bench…and the Brushed Coffee Table is a great match for the Emphasis chairs.

greene-all

Sentiments by Sidda – Sidda Jubilee – Sidda is set up across from me, another shop that’s new to me. She has several styles of really precious swings — and you know I love a swing! – both singles and bench swings. I love the ribbon detail!

Organica by Aki Shichiroji – dear readers, you know I ❀ Organica. So I took a picture of her entire exhibit. It’s all perfection and you need a little bit of everything. πŸ™‚ I already have most of everything, AND I picked up the pack of ferns. You can never have enough ferns.

That’s all for now! More pictures coming as soon as I get out and explore the other two sims. Get out there yourself, and enjoy!
