I’m going out with a bang!!

Tuli Asturias is remodeling her Journey sim, and I can’t wait to see what she does with it! What this remodel means for Second Spaces, though, is that my satellite shop in Journey is closing. I have absolutely loved having a shop there, so I want to celebrate that and go out with a bang!

Starting today at noon SLT, all items  in the Journey store are 50% off!!! The sale lasts until noon on Sunday, then I’ll pick up my stuff and wave goodbye…until the new Tuli store opens and I swarm back in for the yummy goodness. ;) Many, many thanks to Tuli for inviting me to her sim, and best of luck with the new build!! <3

Second Spaces @ Journey

Saturday-appropriate title goes here!

Happy Saturday, dear readers! I’ve got quite a few things to share with you today,  and so I will do that. Starting…………now.

Opening today, the Hallelujah Azul Art Walk!

Go check it out here!

Speaking of art, Marnix Malifozik sent me a sample of his work from his gallery Swirly Disco Flames – which  may be the best gallery name ever. In Marnix’s words,

We can talk about fractals, we can talk about mathematical transformations and graphical representations of numericals sequences. Or we can just talk about Swirly Disco Flames.

This is fun stuff – modern, abstract, and well, just cool to look at. Marnix also accepts requests for custom work, and I think a personalized piece would be great for any modern decor.

Speaking of modern decor – my friend Amaliscious Destiny sent me a promo pic of her newest set at La’Licious Designs – the Tintable Kitchen! Nice clean lines, great detailing on the island, and of course, it’s tintable, so you can make it work with your color scheme!

See it up close here!

Speaking of colors, let’s talk about ORANGE Creations. Nut Barak, the designer behind ORANGE, sent me a copy of the Eclipse Loft, and Oh. My. Goodness. Nut puts a lot of focus on shadows and light in his textures, and the result is realistically amazing. I love the impact that baked textures can have on the feel of a building or decor in SL, and the Eclipse is just right.

Look closely at the metal columns in the middle pic, above – they seem to be reflecting the orange  of the cushions. THAT, my friends, is awesome detail in texturing.

The Eclipse includes 3 different floor textures, tons of animations in the built-in seating, as well as in the furniture pieces (which are included), and also a rezzing system built into the house that will rez and place the furniture for you. That’s really handy for making sure your shadows and lighting line up between the furniture and the house.

Nut has a few other prefabs available, all just as well-detailed, and definitely worth a look. Go see all he has to offer here!

Plurk rules my life.

Happy Sunday, dear readers! I’ve got some cool stuff for you tonight – like I ever have anything that’s non-cool, but you know what I mean.

First, The Loft has released a gorgeous (of course) new set, the Adwin Living Room. Words are not needed – the pictures tell you all you need to know!

Now, as mentioned in the title – Plurk rules my life. Since I joined Plurk in February, I’ve met tons of SL folks I would probably not ever have met otherwise…and I get to hear about more finds and exciting stuff than I think I ever have by reading blogs. What that means, then, is that I’m totally gonna steal from my Plurk pals and blog some of the places that they’ve plurked. It’s all in the spirit of sharing and giving and stuff. ;) So here are some pretty awesome places I heard about through Plurk…

Jordan Giant: okay, Jordan is a person, not a place. She has some of the most precious little skyboxes ever – they’re available on XStreet, and you can visit them in-world – just check Jordan’s profile Picks and she has them tabbed there. First, the snow.white skybox | loft – the furniture is not included, and isn’t made by Jordan, but she’s done an amazing job of staging so that you can see the potential here!

drift.wood skybox – I LOVE the wood texture on this one. The hanging lightbulbs are included, and are so cute! They each turn on/off individually, which is just fun. :)

{what next} home store: owned by Winter Thorn, {what next} is a really cute collection of pieces falling into shabby chic, casual contemporary, and modern categories. (Not all at once, but you know what I mean.) Great basic pieces, as well as lots of cute accessories — and the Christmas shop is just now being set up, so be sure to take a look!

Also, join Plurk, if you’re not there already, and friend me!

House Hunting – part 3 – we’re home!

So, RL kept me away for a few days…to catch everyone up, I’ve been house hunting with my best guy, Giskard. We looked high, we looked low, we looked in my inventory, and we looked side to side. To see all the candidates, check the posts here and here.  We found a lot of great possibilities, and after much thought and consideration, we chose…..are you ready?

Sure?

House Hunting – part 2 of 3…yeah, I think 3 will do it.

Good morning, dear readers. When last we spoke, I shared with you three of the “maybe” houses that Giskard and I had found so far in our hunt. As mentioned, our goal was to find a place that works on my waterfront land…that fits a mish-mash of our styles (my shabby chic cottage with his steampunk)…and that is, well, you know, cool and awesome. SO…let’s see what else we found!

As it turns out, I have quite a lot of houses in my inventory that have come to me for blog reviews, or as thanks for blog reviews, or just because I have some really amazing designer friends. :) All of the houses in my inventory are wonderful, but not all of them really fit what Gis and I are looking for. One that we did pull out and give another look is the Fujisawa House from Bahia Tiki and Zen by Aral Levitt. I reviewed this house back in May, and I really do love it. I love Asian design in houses and furniture, and the details in the Fujisawa are just gorgeous. Plus, it’s a perfect size – not too big, not too small (in which to eat our porridge). I think we could make steampunk work with an Asian aesthetic…shabby chic cottage might be trickier, but I see possibilities. Add it to the list!
